The ESP32-UWB-01 is a development board integrating the ESP32-S3 and DWM3000 chips. Once flashed with the Downlink TDOA Tag firmware, it functions as a Downlink TDOA tag, offering a typical positioning accuracy of 10–30 cm.
Since Downlink TDOA tags consume significant power, customers typically deploy them in scenarios where battery power is not required—such as in-vehicle applications or device integration projects. Consequently, we have not designed this product as a finished, ready-to-wear form factor (e.g., a badge or wristband). Instead, the ESP32-UWB-01 serves as a prototyping platform for Downlink TDOA tags.
The basic circuitry of the ESP32-UWB-01 is largely identical to that of the A101 Positioning Base Station. However, as it is designed specifically as a development board, it breaks out all pins from both the ESP32-S3 and DW3000 chips to facilitate development. It also integrates a CH340X chip, enabling automatic firmware flashing and UART0 monitoring, and features an integrated OLED display.
Users can utilize the ESP32-UWB-01 to develop their own UWB positioning systems—such as DSTWR or TDOA systems—or employ it as the hardware platform for PDOA tags.
We will be releasing a series of example routines compatible with the ESP32-UWB-01 in the near future.
